About the TeacherHenry B. Stobbs is an 8th generation native of Texas and a 12th generation American whose ancestors came to the Crown Colonies as early as 1618. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts with a history concentration from Excelsior College and a Master of Fine Arts degree in writing from Goddard College. A retired United States Army Intelligence Corps first sergeant and disabled veteran, Mr. Stobbs speaks German and Russian. His professional affiliations include the Association of American Educators and the Global Association for the Teaching of Economics. He is a Fellow of the Dirksen Institute, and has completed several hundred hours of professional development in the social sciences.
A published writer, Mr. Stobbs is a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, Sons of the Republic of Texas, San Jacinto Descendants, and Sons of Confederate Veterans. He is married to Amber Collingwood, a native of Findlay, a daughter, Heather (husband Jamey Losey) and a grandson, Felix, who is a Tiffin City Schools third-grader Mr. Stobbs has been teaching at Mohawk High School since 2000. He has served the Mohawk community in a variety of roles, including as an instructor of political science in the Kenyon College Academic partnership, adjunct instructor of English composition and literature for Rhodes State College in the College Credit Plus program, Student Council and Economics Club advisor, Veterans Recognition Committee advisor, and Principal's Advisory Team member. Mr. Stobbs initiated the Mohawk High School curriculum in Economics and Personal Finance, and is assigned this year to teach American Government, Economics & Personal Finance, and American History. |
